Switch Panels
CCC Switch Design Philosophy:
Custom engineered and built to the customer’s unique specifications and design criteria.
All engineering, production, and assembly is maintained in house (except for plating and
PCB production).CCC has a variety of existing switch designs and concepts that may be
used as a basis for a particular custom application. Although the aesthetic appearance
and functionality of each switch may be different, there are a number of design principals that remain constant to maintain the CCC standards for quality.
As we do with all our products, we keep three principals in mind when designing:
Keep it Simple…
Keep it Reliable…
Keep it Digital.
Switch Design Features:
Digital-Analog conversion of audio signal within switch. The digital signal is maintained
from the source to the switch without any opportunity for induced noise. A processor within the switch converts the digital audio (SPDIF) to analog for noise free audio at
the headphone jack.
* Other IFE vendors may propose “Digital Systems” that often have analog audio runs
at the beginning or end of their distribution path resulting in induced noise. Even short
analog runs from a seat box to a switch can result in a noisy audio signal and eliminate
the perceived benefits of the digital distribution.
Diagnostics: LED’s located on the back of every switch indicate if the unit is properly wired and communicating over the C-Stream network:
1) 28VDC
2) Reverse Power
3) Chassis
4) +5VDC
5) NVI_RX (C-Stream Communication)
6) Audio (Digital Audio Input)
Rotary Switches are used for setting unique device addresses on C-Stream network.
This allows for common switch designs to be used in multiple locations in the cabin
area tominimize spares requirements and facilitate troubleshooting.
The C-Stream Network interface within each switch allows for peer-to-peer communication with all other devices on the CCC C-stream network. Furthermore,
the C-Stream interface allows for remote diagnostics and upgrades to each switch
and device on the C-Stream network via the Ethernet or modem connection on the
C-Stream Network Manager (CSNM).
Solid machined aluminum housings with EMI lips enclose every CCC switch.
Easy mounting of switch from front without special tools. Customized mounting
options are available as required to facilitate easy install/removal.
D-Sub connectors are used for easy repair and termination of mating connectors.
Pigtails are reinforced at the switch base, with sufficient length and flexibility to be easily routed in any direction with extremely tight bend radius.
Bezel designs and plating are per customer specifications. Even the most complex
bezel shapes can be engineered and machined in-house. Plating or powder-coating
of the bezel is outsourced to the modification center’s plating company of choice.
Button text, status, and overlay color can also be customized. A variety of back
lighting colors are available (red, white, green shown above) with status light indication as required. Button text can be printed in any language, or international symbols may
be used.
Switch Design and Customer Approval of Prototypes: CCC uses solid modeling software for development of switch design concepts. In a matter of days we can
provide a solid model (E-Drawing) for customer approval, and this same data may
be incorporated into the 3D models of the cabin interior drawings for virtual fit-checks
of the switch. This data may also be released (once approved) to become part of the modification center’s interior design package. CCC can also provide machined fit-check units upon request to support the production process (cutout fit-checks) of furniture.
